Appointment Pool

East Wanneroo Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2025.

Suitable applicants should be innovative leaders with the ability to work collaboratively with the school’s leadership team, staff, and the community to ensure positive progress and outcomes for all students. You should contribute to the leadership of the school culture and promote learning that is supported by the belief that every student is capable of success.

You should have the capacity and resilience to develop others while working collaboratively to ensure whole school initiatives are achieved. These initiatives include improving literacy and numeracy outcomes, implementation of the Quality Teaching Strategy, STEM, teacher professional growth, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and implementation of a Reconciliation Action Plan.

To be suitable for this role, you will ideally have highly developed knowledge of the Western Australian curriculum, in addition to knowledge of current research and evidence-based practices.

The school is involved with the PBS program this year and deputies will need to be supportive of PBS principles. Behaviour management, pastoral care, and catering for students at risk including the engagement of parents and outside agencies, is part of the deputy’s role and experience in these areas would be highly desirable.

Deputy Principals at East Wanneroo PS should ideally display a high level of interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to build close and lasting relationships with our diverse school community, including Aboriginal and Culturally Diverse students and families.   • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

 Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
