Appointment Pool

Huntingdale Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals, for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025.  Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

Applicants will ideally have strong interpersonal and communication skills to build successful relationships with students, staff, parents and outside agencies to deliver high level outcomes for all students, every day, utilising their curriculum knowledge to assist staff with differentiating the curriculum to support the needs of the students. The suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to self-reflect, promote an environment of active and positive behaviour management, use data to drive decisions and support staff with strategies.

Applicants will be required to establish and sustain effective collaborative approaches to lead whole school improvement, instructional practice, curriculum development and developing middle leaders. The ability to analyse data to inform teaching and learning and apply adaptive relational leadership skills when working with all stakeholders is highly desirable. As an exemplary leader, you should be able to model agreed whole-school teaching strategies with staff, mentor and coach staff as part of a performance and development culture, and support classroom observations and ongoing feedback cycles.

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements

 Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
