ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position on a 9-day fortnight roster, DIDO to our Worsley Alumina Refinery, and our Boddington mine site.

As the Principal External Affairs - Social Investment, you will be responsible for using industry leading expertise to execute Social Investment and performance activities that protect and enhance Worsley's reputation within its communities of influence while improving Worsley's social value contribution to the region.

The role will involve:

• Designing innovative community investment activities that create shared value for South32's communities.
• Creating a culture of engagement and shared value with site leadership and key community stakeholders.
• Deliver Worsley's long-term Social Performance Strategy to protect and enhance Worsley's reputation and create shared value for South32's communities.
• Fostering relationships with local community members to proactively share Worsley's contribution to the South West and Peel Regions.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

• Deliver the Worsley Alumina Social Performance strategy with a focus on Social Investmentand social performance.
• Proactively work with community partners to develop activation plans that leverage Worsley's investment including matched giving and volunteering opportunities for employees.
• Work with site leadership to profile Worsley's social value contribution in the region.
• Input to South32-wide communication channels including website, social media platforms, intranet and annual reporting.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Senior experience in External Affairs / Stakeholder Engagement or related discipline.
• Experience working in industrial or mining organisations is preferred.
• Strong understanding and ability to develop and maintain positive relationships in regional communities.
• Accomplished and persuasive written and verbal communication skills including the ability to simplify complex, technical information into straightforward messaging suitable for a range of audiences.
• Ability to manage complex stakeholder engagement to tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience in community investment, stakeholder engagement, event management and communications.

Qualifications for this position are:

• Qualification in Social Performance, Communications, Public Relations or a related field with a focus on Social Investment and partnership development.
