An exciting full-time temporary opportunity exists for a Deputy Principal in the Mount Isa area. The Deputy Principal will join the leadership team of each mainstream primary school, for a period of 6 months (Semester 2, 2024), with the possibility of extensions, assisting in building capability, leadership, continuity and alignment of practices across the Mt Isa schools.
This opportunity will allow the successful applicant to support the Principals in mainstream primary schools (Barkly Highway State School, Happy Valley State School, Healy State School, Mount Isa Central State School and Townview State School) to lead the school community of Mount Isa, to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision, in the Early Years (K-2).

About the Role
As Deputy Principal based at Barkly Highway State School, you will be tasked with ensuring a great start for all children with a dedicated focus on:
- Enhancing successful transitions to school to support continuity of learning and wellbeing; and
- Achieving effective teaching and learning in Prep to Year 2.
To enhance K-2 continuity and alignment, you will be involved in:
- Strengthen quality transition practices for all children and families to support the continuity of learning and development between prior to school settings and school.
For Prep to Year 2
- Enhance level of achievement outcomes overall A to C;
- Improve reading outcomes;
- Improve attendance rates;
- Reduce school disciplinary absences;
- Improved Kindy participation and transition.
