AddressSt Ives High School is a comprehensive coeducational High School with a current enrolment over 1730 students. 32% of students are from non-English speaking backgrounds and the gender balance is approximately 57% boys and 43% girls. An Autism class is being established this year which will operate alongside two long established Hearing Support classes. St Ives High School also is home to an Intensive English Centre, a long-running high performance and gifted education program and a substantial learning and support program, all of which are valued by the community. There have been significant advances in infrastructure in recent years resulting in improved teaching and learning facilities including a new gym which is about to be extended, in a joint project with Ku-ring-gai Council. The school’s curriculum structure is based on KLAs and the school runs a substantial student wellbeing program. There is a mix of early career and experienced teachers who have played a significant role in improved HSC results in recent years. The school has an active, supportive and highly engaged P&C and the community has high expectations for student involvement and achievement.

Approval to teach English as a Second Language.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the senior exec team to effectively initiate, lead, motivate and monitor the implementation of the school improvement plan and strategic directions.
Proven capacity to be a visible leader to drive initiatives that enhance teacher capacity, contribute to, and support the English language development of students in the program, provide pastoral care and build engagement with parents, caregivers and the wider community.
Outstanding organisational and interpersonal skills that demonstrate a collaborative approach to leading school administrative and teaching staff of diverse experience and backgrounds to nurture a positive culture.
Deep understanding of an Intensive English Centre with demonstrated experience in proactively developing and managing complex daily structures, systems and procedures that support the delivery of targeted high-quality teaching and learning transition programs innovatively and effectively.

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
