Since its inception in 1989, The University of Notre Dame Australia has built a reputation as one of the country’s top-ranked universities for providing an exceptional educational and student experience. It has over 12,000 students enrolled across its three campuses in Fremantle, Sydney and Broome. In recent years, it has commenced an ambitious program focused on growth, research intensification, internationalisation and strengthening its national structure.
Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Partnerships and International contributes to the overall leadership of the University, working collaboratively as part of an effective, collegial team to shape Notre Dame’s strategy and mission. The position leads a broad portfolio including:
- Research
- International
- Strategic Partnerships
- Student Recruitment and Marketing
This is a substantial and challenging position which will play a lead role progressing Notre Dame’s renewal program. This will entail leading initiatives aimed at improving research quality, capacity and capability; maximising research funding and partnerships; and enhancing research training.
Student recruitment will require leadership to drive domestic and International student load, while working collaboratively with Executive Deans and other colleagues in building student enrolments. While improving the quality of the student intake, an inclusive approach to expanding opportunities for students from diverse and marginalised backgrounds will also be key.
The partnerships element of the portfolio covers research and broader engagement, both locally and Internationally. The DVC will need the standing and executive presence to represent the University at the most senior levels with international partners, developing and maintaining strategic Partnerships and collaborative agreements that deliver sustained value and meet the ambition of the University’s Strategic Plan.
