About the role
We are seeking an experiencedDesign Engineer for a 12-month parental leave coverage to join the team working on designing innovative aerospace repair solutions often incorporating cutting-edge additive manufacturing technologies to sustain critical weapon systems for the Department of Defence.
Initially the role will be working on the development of engineering repairs for aircraft landing gear and environmental control systems as well as opportunities to contribute to other programs and innovative technologies under development at Rosebank Engineering
Key accountabilities include:
- Design and verify component repairs in support of aircraft maintenance and overhaul activities.
- Undertake responsibilities of a Compliance Verification Engineer.
- Design and optimisation of mechanical components, systems and tooling for aerospace applications.
- 3D CAD modelling of aircraft components and assemblies, conducting failure analysis and safety assessments.
- Preparation of assembly and manufacturing drawings including tolerancing and dimensioning to Australian Standards.
- Conduct critical design reviews and product optimisation.
- Develop concept and deliver product systems within budget and project timeframes.
- Design, prototyping and assembly of systems and support equipment for aircraft component repair programs.
- Development of test plans and conducting testing and verification activities.
- Liaise with external suppliers of sub-components and raw materials.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold tertiary qualification in Engineering (Aerospace or Mechanical)
- A demonstrated ability to design aircraft repairs and show that they comply with applicable engineering standards.
- A demonstrated ability to verify that repairs comply with applicable engineering standards.
- At least of 5 years of experience as a Design Engineer working in an applicable peer company.
- At least 2 years experience as a Design Engineer working within a DASR Part 21J Design Organisation.
- A demonstrated ability to use CATIA.
- A demonstrated ability to work within a Continuous Improvement, 5S, 6-Sigma, or Lean program.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an engineering team, and with maintenance and manufacturing teams.
- Good demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
- Good demonstrated organisational skills.
- A demonstrated passion for engineering.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues
- Natural ability to plan showing good attention to detail, organisational/time management and follow-through
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
- Demonstrated drive, passion, and commitment to achieving results
- Strong and demonstrated customer service capability and personality
