About You

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of various electrical control systems, with a particular focus on energy management systems (EMS), building management systems (BMS), Duress Management System (DMS), lighting control systems (LCS), Solar PV and BESS.

Duties will include (but not be limited to)

  • Lead the Solar and BESS design for Commercial/Industrial EPC projects.
  • Prepare Panel Layouts, Potential System Performances, ROI calculations, and Shading Analysis for commercial solar projects ranging from 100kW to 5MW and BESS ranging from 250kWh 5MWh.
  • Prepare Concept Drawings, IFC Drawings, and As-Built documentation for solar PV/BESS.
  • Prepare techno-commercial offers for medium to large solar/BESS projects. 
  • Evaluate interval data to propose engineering solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption for commercial clients.
  • Perform shading analysis and technical analysis to optimize proposed solar solutions for commercial installations.
  • Prepare Grid Applications and liaise with DNSP for approval, ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards in Australia.
  • Provide technical support to project management and site teams, ensuring successful project completion.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to solar PV/BESS.
  • Contribute to concept and feasibility studies, technical specification development, and project implementation support for solar PV/BESS.
  • Coordinate with Structural Engineers for design approval.
  • Mentor junior engineers to fulfill their potential in solar/BESS design and engineering.

Skills & Experience

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar.
  • Have a Minimum of 3 years' experience in the solar industry (5 years+ preferred)
  • Competent with AutoCAD, SketchUp and/or PowerCad, MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Competent with utilising design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope etc.
  • Competent with secondary protection design and hardware
  • CEC Accredited Designer for Solar and BESS.
  • Strong and in-depth understanding of AS electrical and Solar PV installation standards (AS/NZS 3000, 3008, 4777.1, 5033, 5139)
  • Knowledge of DNSP approval processes in Australia.
  • In-depth technical knowledge and understanding of a wide array of PV systems and their market applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in technical review, stakeholder coordination and project delivery requirements.
  • Previous on-site work experience including installation and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of energy yield assessments and specification development for renewable generation systems.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and prioritise tasks effectively.
