The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer Coordinator opportunity available to join our team in Sydney.
The Design Engineer Coordinator has a key focus on identifying existing limitations, and testing and establishing of new engineering technologies in ACCIONA projects. This is a great opportunity where you will be responsible to design, provide quality, consistent and financially responsible estimates, as well as analysis and reporting.
The role requires mitigation of risk and alertness to opportunities, including proactive intervention and/or escalation where required. The Design Engineer Coordinator is to provide proactive education and technical training of the team and provide timely and expert advice to key staff on the project.
Key responsibilities:
Promote the implementation and update of new engineering technologies, keep abreast with current industry trends.
Drawing and documentation updates, including the mark-up and submission of as-built drawings where required.
Estimating costs
Report any design issues to the Head of Engineering or any Project Manager
Attendance and contribution to client meetings in a technical capacity
Analyse specifications, plans and related technical data to determine time, cost and labour requirements for projects, tender bids and related commercial contracts.
Participate in detailed design teams to ensure estimates are relevant to scopes of works, stakeholders' expectations and are cost effective.
Manage the preparation of estimates, designs and tenders, following Company procedures.
Perform post-project reviews (Lessons Learnt) to assess project performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Comply with and promote Company policies, guidelines and procedures.
Actively participate in the annual performance review process.
Required Skills and Competencies
Relevant Engineering degree
Commercial experience gained from a construction or consultancy background in a similar role.
Strong MS office and Geotechnical & Structural Software packages.
Excellent communication both written and verbal.
An excellent understanding of computer and IT proprietary systems (i.e. WALLAP, CAPWAP, PIT-W, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, AutoCAD, and other geotechnical & structural software.
