Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Solar PV + Battery Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing solar PV systems and battery storage solutions, along with the ability to conduct site visits to gather all necessary information for design work. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, field experience, and strong communication skills to ensure the delivery of top-notch solar energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Engineering:
- Develop detailed solar PV and battery storage system designs for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Perform system sizing, energy yield analysis, and financial modelling.
- Create single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and electrical schematics using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, Open Solar).
Site Assessment:
- Conduct site visits to capture all required information, including measurements, shading analysis, structural assessments, and electrical evaluations.
- Evaluate site conditions and constraints to optimize system performance and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical support and assist in the preparation of project proposals, quotations and tender submissions.
- Work closely with installation teams to ensure designs are implemented correctly and efficiently.
- Coordinate with utility companies, permitting authorities, and other stakeholders as needed.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all designs meet company standards, industry best practices, and local regulations.
- Conduct post-installation reviews and performance assessments to verify system functionality and client satisfaction.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including design files, site visit reports, and communication logs.
- Provide regular updates to project managers and clients on project status and any design-related issues.
Qualifications:
- A degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in solar PV system design, with a focus on battery storage solutions.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and other relevant tools.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and best practices related to solar PV and battery systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to conduct site visits and perform physical tasks as required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- CEC accredited Solar designer licence.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
