A successful and long-established business needs a DESIGN ENGINEER to join its large and successful business. They need someone who has SolidWorks experience and experience in designing trucks, trailers or other road transport industry work.

They have a very modern business & workshop which consist of the latest manufacturing technology. They manufacture and sell large capital equipment for the road transport industry across Australia.

Reporting to the management team, this position will be a hands-on job that requires strong capabilities in organising, planning, scheduling, forecasting raw material / sub-assembly requirements and communicating across the team.
Your role will include engineering design of various road vehicle projects and configurations, from engineering stage to completion/delivery, including:

• Conduct technical reviews of specifications, designs and relevant standards.
• Design, 3D modelling & drafting
• Compliance with customer specifications
• Complete engineering job packages
• Detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, schematics, technical documentation.
• Product documentation including owner manual
• Generation of drawings and documents for regulatory submission.

You will also participate in continuous Improvement initiatives, design reviews, R&D and cost-effective designs. Plus, support purchasing and production and, when necessary, liaise with internal & external stakeholders.

• Tertiary qualification across mechanical engineering or any related field.
• Demonstrable and proficient use of 3D modelling and 2D drawing with SolidWorks experience
• Possesses expertise or proficiency in FEA, showcasing advanced engineering analysis skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and also work in a team environment
• Proven track record in mechanical engineering with successful project execution
• Australian Citizenship or permanent residency
• Excellent people skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
