The Opportunity
The Design Engineer – Rail System Power is responsible for the design of Rail Systems products, power substation control panels and switchboards in accordance with project specifications and as guided or directed by the Project Engineer/Design Manager.
This role will work from our Auburn office.
Key responsibilities include.
· Assist in the design and manufacturing of power substation control panels and switchboards.
· Customer facing, liaise with government-owned/private companies that operate and maintain transmission networks across country.
· To supply control cabinets and switchboards, assist in getting UGL Products and Manufacturing on the supplier panels of companies that operate and maintain transmission networks across country.
· Generate the contract Bill of Material (BOM) under the supervision
· Assist in achieving cost effective manufacturing of substation equipment
· Assist in achieving cost effective manufacturing of substation equipment.
· Carry out the task of Testing Engineer, when necessary and as directed by the Project Engineer/ Design Engineer
· Attend design reviews as requested by the Project Engineer/Design Engineer Contribute to the giving of technical advice to the functional Departmental Managers, in conjunction with the Project Engineer/Design Engineer
Requirements to be successful.
· Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in electrical substation equipment industry or companies that operate and maintain transmission networks across country, emphasis mainly in the product design and construct area with some on site work involved in testing and commissioning
· Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and able to obtain Acceptance by Engineers Australia or equivalent.
