Design Engineer - Roads

The Design Engineer is a key member of the design Services team and supports the Design Services Engineer in ensuring the efficient operation of all design functions within Council. You be responsible for providing high quality construction and design drawings in line with best practice principals, to meet Council's needs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

You'll be working in a permanent full time 35 hour per week role, that will primarily be based at our Corporate Centre in Goonellabah.

What we trust you to deliver

• Investigate and design civil infrastructure projects in line with Council's Delivery Program and Operational Plan
  
• Provide high quality construction and design drawings in line with best practice principals
  
• Prepare preliminary estimates for design works
  
• Utilise engineering standards and principals ranging from conception stage to finalised design plans some of which includes roads and drainage, bridges, car parks, recreational facilities, structural designs, water and wastewater services and associated infrastructure.
  

What you'll need to be successful

• Experienced in Civil Construction Projects - You will have an Engineering Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  
• Technical Skills - Provide Design Engineering advice and support to internal and external customers
  
• Customer Driven Service Delivery - Able to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and customers related to program service delivery
  
• Excellent time management and organisational skills - The ability to prioritise and schedule work and meet deadlines
  
• Be a team player - Participate as a positive team member and contribute to the achievement of team goals and objectives
