About The Role:
Our market leading Rail Systems Engineering business has a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Design Engineer – Track & Civil to join the highly regarded team based in Melbourne VIC.
Reporting to the Senior Design Manager – Track & Civil your role will be to design Track & Civil infrastructure to support our growing Rail Systems portfolio in Australia and New Zealand. In addition to design, your role will provide engineering & technical development, calculation, authorisation, assessment, evaluation and advice to the asset management team along with applicable stakeholders.
Key Responsibilites:
- Provide valuable technical advice to the design manager, ensuring that designs meet standards and maintainability expectations.
- Expertly apply Track & Civil design principles, adhering to industry standards and engineering best practices. This includes detailed drawings, design reports, engineering calculations.
- Demonstrate the ability to deliver a comprehensive Track & Civil design packages such as; maintenance access roads, track alignment, level crossings, signalling & communications infrastructure, formation, earthworks, and drainage.
- Demonstrate proficiency in preparing scopes of work and proactively identify and resolve any non-conformance issues with design standards. Ensure alignment with V/Line NIPR-2000 and MTM L1-CHE-PRO-001.
- Actively engage in safety initiatives, including Safety in Design, risk assessments, and peer reviews.
- Possess the capability to endorse design documents with V/Line and MTM, supported by a Statement of Competency (SoC) in Track and Civil.
- Undertake site survey and investigations and develop site condition reports to support the design.
- Contribute to the assessment of risks and the establishment of effective controls.
- Showcase leadership skills by leading a small team and playing a pivotal role in the development of graduates and junior engineers.
- Foster an environment that promotes continuous learning and skills enhancement of the team
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ demonstrable experience in design post-graduation.
- Engineers Australia Registration – NER and CPeng desirable.
- Demonstrated Track and Civil design experience in Rail.
- Possess a mandatory Track & Civil Statement of Competency (SoC) with MTM and V/Line. Desirably, serve as a checker and/or approver
- A sound understanding of ARO design requirements - V/Line NIPR-2000 and MTM L1-CHE-PRO-001.
- An understanding of the rail safety act and the regulatory environment.
- Strong attitude and awareness of safety.
- High level verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess Leadership potential and ability to develop others.
