The Opportunity
We are seeking an energetic professional Mechanical Design Engineer to our team at our Rutherford-based manufacturing facility in NSW 2 hours from Sydney and 30 minutes from Newcastle. An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design drawings of our water trucks, off-road mine water trucks, tanker trailers and any other manufactured components as required
- Controlling designs so as in accord with heavy vehicle compliance and vehicle body builder guidelines
- Systemising and developing drawing packs for our standard range of equipment to increase our manufacturing efficiency
- Managing research & development projects
- Allocating additional drafting tasks to a small drafting team
- Work with the sales team to produce customer proposal drawings
- Work as a team with the operations manager, and workshop supervisor to provide drawings in line with the current production schedule
- Issue workshop drawings and review them upon completion of the manufacturing process, including any required markups and recapture
- Work with purchasing in creating detailed BOMs and parts list
- Weekly drafting meeting to report on the progress of key design milestones
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Recent and verifiable work experience in a comparable Design Engineer role is required.
- Engineering degree or equivalent level of experience
- Experience with 3D modelling using Auto CAD, Inventor, Solidworks or equivalent CAD Package
• Previous experience in heavy vehicle bodybuilding or automotive manufacturing or engineering work environment
• Highly regarded experience in understanding the NHVR- Vehicle Standards Bulletin 6 (VSB6)
• Must be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent time management, looking for ways to optimise and improve design to reduce costs and maximise manufacturing profit margins.
