Design Manager | KPAT Contracting
The Company
KPAT Contracting is an owner / developer / builder company that focuses on delivering refurbished or newly constructed contemporary hotels and pub properties within regional Queensland. With multiple pubs and 400 hotel rooms either in operation or under construction, we have a strong forward project book and are continually looking to expand our operations and geographical footprint.
KPAT Contracting is currently undertaking the construction of a 182 room, fully serviced hotel in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast which, once completed, will become part of the KPAT Hotels + Pubs group. The development consists of a 13-storey hotel, including multiple restaurants, a large conferencing and catering facility as well as ancillary operations in retail, and health and wellness. We will maintain the ownership of this asset upon completion and operate it within our hotel arm.
The Opportunity
This role is key to ensure project delivery excellence in design leadership. The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Lead and manage consultants to deliver high quality design documentation on time, on budget as well as in compliance with the Project Brief.
- Lead the review of the project design for regulatory and building compliance.
- Review the design for constructability in collaboration with the construction team and trade subcontractors to drive efficiencies during delivery.
- Actively participate in the methodology development for the delivery of the project.
- Maintain design quality control management.
- Display a High Level of construction knowledge to find cost savings and value management whilst ensuring quality is not compromised.
- Liaise with Client and Avani Hotel Consultants as required to meet the design requirements of a 4.5 star hotel.
- Liaise and coordinate design with subcontractors engaged under D &C obligations regarding design development and cost.
- Following the design development can liaise with the contract administration team for subcontractor letting.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will require the following qualifications and experience:
- Qualification in a relevant discipline – Construction Management / Architecture / Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience working with a principal contractor delivering large scale D&C building projects from commencement to completion.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to be able to deliver high-quality design projects on time and within budget.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to collaborate with external consultants to obtain best for project outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
