Developmental Educator

Who we are:

We are a family with neurotypical, neurodiverse and medically complex children. We recognised the support and care we desired was not available…...This led to the creation of Nurturing Gnomes.  

Nurturing Gnomes was built to assist families with support work services and paediatric allied health. Together with our multidisciplinary team, we offer in-home and community support, private nannying, Paediatric RN service, play therapy, social work/art therapy, speech therapy, and parent workshops. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated speech pathologist to make a positive impact in the lives of young people.

What you’ll be doing (the role):

Assessment: Conducting assessments to identify the individual's strengths, challenges, and specific developmental needs.

Individualized Planning: Creating customised learning plans and strategies tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each individual.

Instruction and Intervention: Providing direct instruction and interventions to enhance skills.

Collaboration: Working closely with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists, to develop a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to support the individual's development.

Family Involvement: Collaborating with families to understand the individual's home environment, preferences, and family goals. Involving families in the educational process to ensure continuity of support.

Advocacy: Advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities to ensure they have access to appropriate educational, social, and community resources.

Adaptations and Modifications: Implementing and creating adaptations or modifications to the learning environment, curriculum, or materials to meet the specific needs of each individual.

Monitoring Progress: Regular assessing and monitoring progress to adjust strategies and interventions as needed.

Who are you:

• Whether you are recent graduate or seasoned professional, you are passionate about working with, and enriching the lives of children. 
• You are a registered Developmental Educator with relevant agencies and providers. 
• Autonomous, methodical, and flexible
• You like to use creative thinking to solve problems, and are confident using technology to support your role 
• Ability to travel and work at client sites
