The Role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps & Infrastructure engineer to join our team of experts, with strong skills in building, maintaining an automated and streamlined development life cycle as well as supporting our current IT infrastructure that includes networks and servers for providing SaaS services. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, build, and maintain the infrastructure and tools for software as a service delivery both in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Plan and setup a Disaster Recovery Plan that allows service continuity without interruption. This includes setting up database replication, failover and load balancing. 
  • Keep in house software up to date and secure at all times.
  • Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Monitor, prevent, troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues. 
  • Ensure security and compliance of software and systems. 
  • Collaborate with developers, testers, operations staff, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth SDLC and service delivery
  • Be available up to an hour (or more if necessary) a day each of the weekend days to monitor and resolve and issues in the servers and services
  • Create and maintain effective documentation of processes, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Provide on-call support and take proactive steps to avoid and mitigate impact of incidents

Bonus Tasks: Non-essential:

  • Support and maintain VMWare virtualisation infrastructure; hypervisors and VMs
  • Support and maintain SmarterMail
  • Help with supporting and maintaining servers, SAN and network equipment in data centres and offices across New Zealand Australia. 

Reporting

The position reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

The Candidate

You can demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a DevOps engineer and Infrastructure support combined
  • Experience in DevOps tools such as GitLab, Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, etc. 
  • Experience in DRP, replication, failover and load balancing
  • Knowledge of database management MySQL and MongoDB
  • Knowledge of various IT tools and platforms; Windows Server, Linux, VMWare, and various hardware
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and security principles
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Ansible, Java and Bash scripting
