DIDO Road Signage Officer - Civil Operator Opportunity in Far North Queensland

Hays Cairns Trades & Labour have partnered with a small remote Council in Tropical Far North Queensland who are currently seeking a well-versed and enthusiastic Traffic Control/Road Signage Officer to join their successful and motivated civil works team. Your new role
Commencing in Early May (depending on the weather), your new role as a Traffic Control/Road Signage Officer will be ongoing until December and available for an immediate start. In this role you will be DIDO rostered 10-11 hours per day, 6 days per week on 17/4 roster (paid 8 hrs travel first and last day of 17). Accommodation will be supplied.
In this role you will be responsible for the tasks below;
- Assisting in road construction and maintenance projects for the season
- Install, monitor and reporting of road signage
- General civil construction duties including labouring
- Operate earthmoving plant (if required and you have tickets)
- Follow company OH&S policies and procedures
What you'll need to succeed
You will have demonstrated experience working within the civil construction industry and ideally in a similar role. Your skills operating various plant machinery, Traffic Control and civil labouring will lead to your success in this role. You are self-sufficient, reactive, adaptable and have a strong work ethic. You work well under pressure and excel in team environments.
You will also hold the below qualifications:
- Traffic management implementation ticket
- Traffic control tickets (desirable)
- Construction Induction White Card
- Nationally recognised operator licences (desirable) Ideally Roller.
- Current Drivers Licence and reliable transport to site (diesel vehicle preferred)
- Previous experience working in a remote indigenous community
- Conditioned for labour intensive duties and able to work in North QLD weather conditions
