About the Plastics Team
Plastics Moulding department has 7 plastics injection moulding machines running 24/5 and in our high season 24/7 producing iconic Australia products like the Postura and Integra chair. We have ambitious growth targets with sustainability at our core, embarking on our circular economy journey.
About the role
The role of Die Setter (Afternoon Shift) is responsible for setting up injection moulding machines and equipment, monitoring the operations of machinery, to ensure parts are produced within specification. The role is based at our Minto site, reporting to the shift supervisor. Afternoon shift is 3pm to 11.30pm Monday to Friday with weekend/overtime as required.
Responsibilities
- Mould Installation and Setup: Responsible for installing moulds into the injection molding machines ranging in size from 125 ton to 1600 ton.
- Material Preparation: Work with different types of plastic materials and ensure that the correct materials are loaded into the machine's hopper for the molding process.
- Process Monitoring: Monitor the injection moulding process to detect any abnormalities or defects and make
- Operating: operate moulding machine, perform visual inspections, trim excess material and package moulded parts
- Collaboration: Work closely with production supervisors and machine operators to ensure smooth operations and efficient production.
Education and Experience:
- High school certificated and Diploma Polymer Technology preferred
- 2+ years of experience operating presses or in a related area
- Forklift license is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of quality control, cost reduction, materials and productions processes.
- Knowledge of press operation; English (grammar, language), Math.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions;
- Ability to work independently and make independent decisions.
