About the Role:
Within the Experience Design team of the Office of the CIO, your role as an EL1 Digital Accessibility Specialist will be essential. Your dedication to ensuring digital products are accessible to everyone will be key in developing, testing, and advocating for accessibility-first solutions. Working closely with the team, you'll ensure that our digital products meet the diverse needs of stakeholders and users.
Location: Multiple Locations ( ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC)
Contract Duration: 12 Months + 12 Months
Requirements:
- Australian Citizenship required.
- Baseline security clearance or willingness to obtain.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop prototypes using web technologies to evaluate design concepts and assess accessibility.
- Collaborate with user researchers, developers, and designers to create accessible digital products.
- Review prototypes to identify and address accessibility issues early in the product lifecycle.
- Provide expert advice on user behaviour, Digital Accessibility, and assistive technologies.
- Lead usability testing sessions with people with disabilities.
- Advocate for accessibility-first design and development practices.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team delivering accessibility-related outputs.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with knowledge of ARIA and related WAI documentation.
- Understanding of how people with disabilities use digital products and common assistive technologies.
- Familiarity with WCAG guidelines and best practices in interaction and content design.
Desirable Criteria:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to present complex ideas persuasively.
- Passion for inclusive design and collaborative approach to accessibility requirements.
- Enthusiasm for accessible design and development practices.
