Job description

About the Project:

The Spark Consortium has been selected for the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.

The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.

The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.

As Melbourne’s most significant road infrastructure project, the North East Link Tunnel is setting new standards for engineering and community impact. As we forge ahead, our focus is on industry best practices by implementing a robust Digital Delivery approach for Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation (MEI) components. This commitment complements our wider project scope, which integrates civil, structural, and infrastructure elements.

  • Reporting on pivotal performance metrics tied to Digital Delivery, offering insightful data-driven analysis to inform decision making and de-risk execution.
  • Ensure effective adoption by third parties engaged by the MEI to also adopt Digital Delivery methods, thus ensuring a holistic approach for all MEI scope.
  • Orchestrating synergies with various project stakeholders and tools, such as P6, the Document Management System, and ProjectWise.

Your leadership will:

  • Ensure the MEI Digital Delivery team is effective in supporting MEI execution, commissioning and handover teams.
  • Guarantee our commitment to transitioning LOD350+ digital assets.
  • Propel decision-making processes with genuine performance and efficiency insights.
  • Refine subcontract management procedures.
  • Safeguard efficient project handovers through methodically organized work packages and top-tier QA documentation.
  • Be effective in coordination with the Project’s Digital Engineering and Project IT teams to ensure alignment in technology governance and management requirements.
  • Drive efficiencies via digitized workflows for example, ensuring on-site information is always at hand.
  • Implementing approach to key material tracking across all project stages.
  • Provide stakeholders with in-depth performance analyses, leveraging data-rich environments.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (with BIM experience), Construction Management, Construction IT or a related field. A proven track record in digital engineering roles, especially within major infrastructure projects, is a must.
