About the Role
Our Asia Pacific Newsroom is looking for a Digital Journalist to deliver original and high-value international news and feature stories that resonate with ABC audiences, with a particular focus on Asia-Pacific issues and communities. Under the broad direction of the Digital Editor (content), the role includes:
- Pitching, writing, producing and editing original, high-quality international news, features and other content for existing and experimental digital platforms.
- Identifying both quick-turnaround and agenda-setting stories for the team to pursue.
- Looking out for cross-platform opportunities and assisting with social media, VOD and vertical video versions of stories.
About You
You are an experienced journalistic with a deep knowledge of news and current affairs in the Asia Pacific region. You can produce accurate, concise and engaging digital stories to tight deadlines, and also bring:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a culturally diverse team. Language skills an advantage, particularly those relevant to Australia’s main domestic CALD communities.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok and Facebook and how to best create content to target their primary audiences.
- Accomplished skills and experience in the use of multimedia news publishing systems.
