Senior School Years 9-12Status: Permanent position -0.6 FTE to Full TimeFaculty: DesignCommencement Date: Term 1, 2024Position Location: Burgmann Anglican School, 4 The Valley Avenue, GungahlinLine Management: This position will be responsible to the Head of Senior School through the Design Faculty Leader and ultimately to the Principal Burgmann Anglican School is an Early Childhood to Year 12 School with campuses located at Gungahlin and Forde. The school prides itself on its innovative and creative approach to curriculum and education and its strong sense of community and pastoral care of the students and their families and the staff of the school. The school has a strong link with the Gungahlin Anglican Church which shares facilities and resources with the school.Duties Plan and deliver a curriculum to Senior School students from Years 9-12 allowing for different learning styles and academic needs Prepare course materials Work collaboratively with other members of the Senior School team Participate in curriculum development Participate in professional development activities Liaise with students and parents Participate in the school’s co-curricular program Support the Christian ethos of an Anglican School Other duties as requiredPastoral CareTake responsibility for a Pastoral Care class, including:- Developing positive relationships with students- Monitoring uniform, appearance and student behaviour- Teach the Pastoral Care program- Liaise with parents regarding academic and pastoral progress of students- Undertake administrative tasks required Selection Criteria A relevant degree as well as a Diploma of Teaching or Education A passion for effective teaching and learning An understanding of positive education theory and practices An interest in working with adolescents The ability to differentiate the teaching program to address students’ learning styles and varied academic needs; A willingness to participate in curriculum development and professional development Expertise or interest in the emotional, social and physical development of adolescents Experience in the meaningful integration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) into the curriculum Experience in teaching students with special learning needsSalary, Terms and ConditionsThe successful applicant will be employed under the Independent Schools ACT Standards Model (Teachers) Enterprise Agreement 2021.The applicationApplicants should provide the following documents: Covering letter, addressing the criteria listed above and outlining how you would approach the position (no more than 3 pages in length) Curriculum vitae (no more than 4 pages) A certified copy of your academic transcript Teacher Quality Institute registration.
