Job Description

Your New Role

We’ve redesigned our Corporate Affairs and Engagement team to better support our projects and our business, as well as provide more opportunities for our people to grow and develop.

This means change in the way we are structured, the way we work and new leadership opportunities across the team.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications & Engagement, the Director, Communications and Community Engagement will lead a team to deliver strategic Communications and engagement for a complex, high profile and diverse portfolio of projects.

Please note - This is a fixed term position available for a period of up to 5 years.

Core Accountabilities

  • Lead team in strategic Communications and Community Engagement to align with organisational goals.
  • Establish and implement Business Partnering model to streamline delivery processes.
  • Develop integrated communication and engagement strategies with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Manager Community and Stakeholder for outstanding Community Engagement.
  • Provide leadership to build a strong team culture and ensure adequate support.
  • Coordinate high-level advice for Chief Development Officer and Group Heads.
  • Ensure coordinated delivery of briefings and advice related to project delivery.
  • Supervise communications specialists to support project delivery.
  • Model collaborative behaviour and provide team leadership.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement with diverse senior stakeholders.
  • Negotiate outcomes with external stakeholders while maintaining strong relationships.
Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • Bachelor's degree or postgraduate degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a relevant discipline is required.
  • Extensive experience in a senior government relations, communications or corporate affairs role with knowledge and skills across the broad range/spectrum of communication, media and engagement activities
  • Extensive experience independently developing, managing and providing strategic advice on high-profile projects (experience on infrastructure or construction projects will be highly regarded)
  • Experience working with various levels of government
  • Experience in community and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience in leading teams
  • Experience in working with a variety of high-profile stakeholders and contractors.
