Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this important role presents an enviable opportunity to join a passionate and strategic Executive team and to lead a portfolio with responsibility for an extensive range of community services across Healthy and Active Communities, Family and Community Services, Inclusive and Creative Communities, Resilient and Connected Communities.
The directorate has a strong focus on community and social planning, shaping culture, and advocacy on behalf of the community. The role provides critical support and quality advice to the CEO and Council for the delivery of, and future planning for, council services, helping to drive optimal decision making to enhance the overall the wellbeing of the community.
We are seeking applications from established, respected leaders, who ideally bring GM or Director level experience gained in a complex organisation such as the Local Government sector with a community service delivery focus and a strong understanding of relevant compliance laws. Tertiary qualifications are expected, with post graduate qualifications in management or business highly regarded. Highly developed political acumen and a reputation for delivering with impact are critical, as well as outstanding relationship management and communication skills and high levels of energy, integrity and resilience.
As an experienced, collaborative and engaging leader with a transformational and progressive leadership style, you will work closely with the CEO and other Directors to deliver the Council’s Vision and Plans and demonstrate Council’s Values. Your passion and innovative thinking will be demonstrated by your track record as an influential leader who has driven cultural change and continuous improvement initiatives focused on service excellence, staff engagement and accountability. Your strong community services knowledge, executive presence and appetite for change will allow you to quickly build credibility with both internal and external stakeholders to drive enhanced outcomes.
