Job description
- Responsible for the scope of work and budgets for new builds and expansions for all building and site construction; accurately forecast cost estimates. Identify complete scope of work required to encompass operations requirements and needs.
- Complete clear and concise tender documents, allowing for competitive pricing of projects; review sites to ensure geo/environmental issues are addressed cost efficiently.
- Provide strategies for all contract requirements and follow up with proper bid analysis and signed documentation.
- Spearhead and manage the civil engineering of all sites in a cost-effective manner; monitor project costs closely, identify “extras” early, and ensure appropriations are prepared and signed off prior to proceeding.
- Ensure schedules are maintained in an environment that balances moral motivation and cohesiveness.
- Ensure construction projects run smoothly and contractors meet deadlines. Monitor schedules and resolve delays to meet completion date. Advise business of delays.
- Provide technical expertise on construction related issues.
- Ensure work is completed to T&Ts standards and specifications.
- Minimize the long-term maintenance costs of the building.
- Set and enforce standards for inspections and testing by all Consultants.
- Ensure building/site/off site standards meet T&T requirements.
- Proactively seek opportunities to reduce costs for construction.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum of 20 years of work experience in building engineering and/or the construction industry.
- Extensive experience in construction of supermarkets and/or commercial kitchen development.
- 10-15 years of managerial experience in general construction industry is preferred.
- Deep practical engineering knowledge with a proven track record in timely project delivery, project management, cost control, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Significant experience in strategic facilities and construction planning, capital construction management, real estate development, and/or asset management for a large, multi-site organization.
- Familiar with Canadian regulations and legal compliance.
- Familair with setup of Asian supermakret is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and interpret blueprints and other technical documents.
- Strong business acumen, strategic perspective, consultative, planning, and implementation skills
- Demonstrated strong leadership and supervisory experience, ability to lead by example, delegate appropriately, manage, and motivate the team.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and job task planning and organizing ability.
- High level of integrity and work ethics; ability to work independently with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Effective team player with the ability to interact with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Capability to bring knowledge, creativity, and discipline to the position to drive results and adhere to established fundamental processes.
- Experience in a demanding, fast-paced, or retail environment will be an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Management)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to communicate in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an asset.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with the ability to travel as required.
