About the Role
Director Data Strategy will report to the Chief Digital Officer working in the Digital Strategy Division and has a transformative remit. This role will look to the future, designing and developing customer centric data capabilities, seeking innovative data solutions to contribute to the future of policing in Queensland.
As the Director Data Strategy, you will play a crucial role in leading, managing, developing, and delivering the design, implementation, and evaluation of Queensland Police Service’s Data Strategy. Your work will directly contribute to QPS outcomes and core data sharing and use activities in other key strategies, making a significant impact on the organisation.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead, manage, develop and deliver the design, implementation and evaluation of Queensland Police Service’s Data Strategy, future state roadmap and supporting functions, including engagement and negotiation with relevant contributors.
- Lead the development of a supporting investment plan to support the Data Strategy and Roadmap, which supports QPS outcomes, core data sharing, and use activities in other key strategies.
- Lead and provide high-quality advice on all aspects of data and information management, including appropriate governance frameworks, to QPS.
- Lead the QPS’s approach to exploring and facilitating innovative approaches to emergent AI capabilities, aligned with QPS digital and data strategic roadmaps.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships and communicate with influence, with a wide network of colleagues within the department, the Queensland Public Sector, across other jurisdictions and industry stakeholders.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including agency partners, inter-departmental committees, and cross-jurisdictional partners, to ensure data and information activities help achieve wider government objectives.
- Provide strategic, evidence-based and trusted advice on key issues relating to data and information strategies and opportunities to improve the Digital Strategy Division’s contribution to business outcomes.
- You will have a deep and nuanced understanding of the entire data-to-insights lifecycle and modern best-practice approaches.
- You will be a forward-thinker with a strategic view that looks to create sustainable and scalable strategies.
- Experience in leading data initiatives within large-scale organisations, with an in-depth understanding of data management principles, methodologies, tools, and technologies.
- Strong communicator adept at fostering strong relationships with various partners and stakeholders.
