The Director Disruptive Events Management Unit (DEMU) is responsible for leading the transformation of the organisation’s approach to disaster and emergency management. The focus of the role is steering the development of the department’s disaster and emergency management framework in accordance with government policy and standards and QCS’ strategic direction.
Through the development of critical partnerships with external agencies and an ability to impart strategic vision internally, the Director DEMU will ensure that QCS’ disaster and emergency management capability is fit-for-purpose, evidence-based and aligned with the QDMA.
In this role you will:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the DEMU to facilitate the development of a fit-for-purpose Disruptive Events (including disaster and
emergency) management framework to support the organisation to deliver on its vision and objectives.
- Lead and embed cultural change to transform QCS's approach to Disruptive Events Management including capability building across the organisation to support the delivery and achievement of QCS's goals and priorities.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with partner organisations, external stakeholders and senior and executive officers internally to ensure support and momentum for DEMU deliverables.
- Provide strategic perspectives and critical agency insights to QCS executive, to support the delivery of QCS strategic Disruptive Events Management objectives.
- Ensure that the DEMU has the required capability to meet the organisation's current and longer term requirements.
- Provide expert, evidence/ insights-based and trusted advice to the Assistant Commissioner Strategic Futures Command, and other Executives on emerging and innovative trends relating to disaster and emergency management.
- Lead and direct the effective use and management of the work unit's human and financial resources to deliver services in an efficient and commercially sustainable manner.
- Foster a workplace environment that values performance, continuous improvement, innovation and integrity in the delivery of high quality services.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned.
