About Maranoa Regional Council: Maranoa Regional Council is a dynamic and forward-thinking local government organisation, committed to serving the community and fostering sustainable development. Purpose: As a pivotal member of the Strategic Leadership Team, the Director - Engineering plays a crucial role in leading the organisation to achieve its priorities, policies, and decisions.
The position focuses on promoting a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring excellence in service delivery, and compliance with legislative requirements. Key Responsibilities:Lead the Engineering Services Directorate, overseeing diverse departments such as Strategic Road Management, Program Management, Quarry, Strategic Water, Sewerage, and Gas. Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer and other Directors to ensure alignment with corporate and operational plans.
Provide high-level oversight to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations. Supervise planning and building activities, environmental health, and waste management within the Maranoa region. Act as a liaison with elected Council members, coordinating advice and information on plans, policies, and decisions.
Oversee the Project Management Office, ensuring the development, maintenance, and reporting of a regional program of works. Key Accountabilities:Elected Council: Manage the interface between elected Council and Directorate employees, ensuring timely reporting and compliance with legislative responsibilities. Business Management: Guide and support the Project Management Office, oversee consultants, contractors, and in-house staff, and ensure compliance with Council's specifications and policies.
Asset Management: Ensure sustainable development and management of infrastructure assets, contributing to infrastructure policies and working closely with the Director Corporate Service. Relationship Management: Build professional relationships with key stakeholders such as Mines Inspectorate, Department of Environment and Science, and Procurement. Professional Engineering and Technical Advice: Lead the development of engineering plans and practices, provide advice on engineering and technical strategy management, and contribute to ongoing reviews.
Qualifications and Licences:Tertiary qualifications in a Civil Engineering-related discipline. Current C (Car) Class Driver Licence. General Construction Induction (White Card).
Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) (desirable). Required Skills and Experience:Leadership in a local government environment. Strategic and operational planning, and financial management.
