Job description

Our client is a global independent agency known for being at the forefront of social research and delivering impactful insights that inform policy. Our client is a global independent agency known for being at the forefront of social research and delivering impactful insights that inform policy, drive innovation and behaviour change, and shape the future of society. With an already established team focusing on Australia’s Federal Government, they are looking to appoint a senior Director to work closely with the Head of Federal to drive the strategic growth of this offer.

Culturally they are a smart, no-egos team all excited to deliver fascinating work and sharing a passion for making a positive social impact. They are global but also local and feel authentic and down to earth. They win big meaty work and can offer unrivalled career development opportunities thanks to their local and international network, industry leading talent, and dedicated support functions. They offer flexible working and excellent benefits, including a generous bonus, additional leave, summer hours, and great socials.

The Role You will assist the Head of Federal in developing and executing long term strategy for the team and play a key role in business development via thought leadership, speakerships, and keeping your finger on the pulse of any hot topics that might be next on the governments list. You will lead large scale complex bids, always demonstrating your smarts and knowledge of government complexities and the current social landscape, allowing you to become a trusted advisor at the cabinet and ministerial level. You will remain hands on with projects (with the support of your team), demonstrating a consultative and method agnostic approach. You will drive purposeful innovation in methods and techniques to enhance the depth of insights and strategic outcomes for clients.

About you With extensive previous experience working with Federal Government in a strategic insights and advisory capacity, you will be well versed in behavioural communications, policy and evaluation and strategic advisory. Experienced in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies you will be an expert at designing and running complex research projects and converting key insights into compelling strategies for a range of audiences – this could be other communications suppliers, campaign managers, government Departments, Ministers and other stakeholders. You will be an inspiring leader, always eager to share knowledge and collaborate with others. Team development is key to the ongoing success of this offer.

Ideally you will be based in Sydney or Canberra, but other locations across Australia will be considered providing you are happy to travel where required.

A blend of agency and government experience would be ideal but one or the other will be considered providing you have commercial gravitas, top research capabilities and love a fast-paced environment.
