It provides advice on housing affordability and supply, and supports the delivery of the Government's housing agenda. The Division comprises of three branches.
- Housing Finance Branch delivers policy development and advice on financing social and affordable housing and home ownership, including the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF).
- Housing Strategy Branch develops the Government's broader strategic policy framework for increasing housing supply and affordability.
- The Office of the National Housing Affordability and Supply Council is responsible for supporting the Council to provide independent, evidence-based expert housing advice to Government.
- Lead a high performing, geographically dispersed team to achieve results in tight timeframes.
- Provide advice on complex policy and program issues related to housing finance, specifically the delivery of social and affordable housing through the HAFF and Accord.
- Oversee and monitor the implementation and delivery of the HAFF and Accord by Housing Australia, including through legislation, governance and financial arrangements.
- Engage regularly with internal and external stakeholders, particularly with Housing Australia, other government agencies and the social and affordable housing and investment sector.
- Build a strong and trusted relationship with both the Minister for Housing and the Treasurer's Offices.
- Take an active role in the leadership of Housing Division and work collaboratively with other leaders in the division to build organisational capability.
- Strong background in policy development and implementation and/or program management and governance.
- Experience leading a team under pressure to achieve results and contribute to organisational goals and development.
- Well developed influencing and relationship management skills, and the ability to influence those at more senior levels.
- Excellent judgement, problem solving skills and verbal and written communication skills.
- Strategic thinking and an ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- A curious mind, open to new ideas, and desire to make a positive difference for the Australian community.
- Experience in housing policy and/or financing policies and programs is desirable but not essential.
