RCH is a cornerstone member of the Melbourne Children's Campus, partnering with Murdoch Children's Research Institute, The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatric's and The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation.
RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years since it was founded in 1870. A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas. The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850M, 12 wards and 350 beds. Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

About the Role:
This is a Permanent Full Time position within the Information & Communication department. As the Director, Information Technology you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all daily operational activities of the department and provide direction and solutions that enhance mission-critical operations of the IT department.
You will work with the functions across the Digital portfolio to define and deliver the RCH Digital Strategy. It will develop and execute a technology plan and road map that is aligned with the RCH's Digital Strategy and drive technology dependent transformation projects, steering the business towards innovative solutions.
What You'll Achieve:

  • Demonstrable ability to develop and deliver effective working relationships with colleagues across ICT Services and the wider business
  • Lead a diverse team of IT professionals, and drive a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
  • Identify emerging technologies and trends to ensure the organisation is compliant with legislation and able to innovate successfully and opportunistically
  • Develop and maintain robust Risk Management and Disaster Recovery plans for the ICT infrastructure and systems
  • Lead and manage a team, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Contribute to a strong people culture, supported by strategy, informed by People Matters, that focuses on a culture if inclusivity and respect.
Your Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Extensive commercial mindset that delivers sustainable and effective results
  • Deep understanding of technology trends, including the use of data in the context of innovation and digital transformation
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Proven change management experience and delivery of an enterprise level IT portfolio
  • Knowledge and experience across a complex technology environment including the management and technical leadership in Major Incidents
  • Ability to make decisions independently and to assume higher-level leadership responsibilities in critical situations
