The Building Commission NSW are looking for a Director of Investigations & Enforcement to lead and direct the collection of evidence and investigations function to achieve compliance and Enforcement outcomes designed to improve industry or marketplace performance, ensure protection and safety, inform the public and facilitate the understanding of rights and responsibilities.

About the role

Exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic environment working in a high-volume, high-profile division. Reporting to the Executive Director, Building Operations and Assistant Building Commissioner role, you will lead and motivate four investigative teams to manage a combination of proactive and reactive regulatory compliance activities including investigations and Enforcement for the protection of the people of NSW.

  • This role involves providing efficient and effective delivery of intelligence-led, risk-based, Investigation and Enforcement activities in line with the Building Professionals Board legislation, customer, and stakeholder needs.
  • The preferred candidate should possess a background in courts and legal proceedings, including familiarity with tribunal processes at both local and supreme levels.
  • You will also deal with critical matters which require urgent attention, build, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in various industries, contribute to high-level strategic planning and ensure Ministerial and Departmental priorities are met.

You will understand the foundations delivered by the Construct NSW strategy. Your knowledge of licensing and complaints frameworks, procedures and processes will be highly beneficial to the role.

Note: we are currently undergoing Baseline Vetting to a PROTECTED level with NSWPF. Baseline vetting will be required to access NSWPF COPS system.
