Job description

St Michael's is seeking an experienced People & Culture leader to join our team. As a key member of the Association's Executive Leadership Team, this role involves working alongside our CEO and other executives to drive the development of the required culture and workforce capability to meet the strategic priorities of the Association. The role leads a small and dedicated team of six People and Culture and rostering professionals.

 As our Director of People and Culture, your purpose will be to:

  • Lead the implementation of the Association's 3-year people plan.
  • Mentor, support and lead your functional team.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for people managers across all aspects of the people life cycle and help to resolve performance and disciplinary matters in a fair and ethical manner.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders (Directors, managers and employees) and external organisations (Unions and statutory agencies).
  • Continuously improve and maintain the smooth running of People, culture and rostering services, systems and processes.
  • Review employee engagement data and partner with the business to develop action plans.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and manage grievance processes in line with best practice.
  • Support the management of workers' compensation matters.
  • Support the implementation and execution of the Association's performance process.
  • Coach and support leadership capability development and succession planning championing ‘Leadership with Humanity’.

About You:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an HR Generalist and/or Business Partnering role with proven contemporary leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding and exposure to employment laws, industrial and employee relations practices, Enterprise Agreements and Awards.
  • A strategic mind which is action oriented and delivers on priorities and commitments.
  • A confident, collaborative, compassionate and responsive approach.
  • Growth mindset and motivated to make a difference.
