Duties
Strategically lead the operations of the Youth Detention Centre and provide provision of high level leadership and advice to staff within the centre, together with leading the implementation of key strategic programs, initiatives and projects associated with the Youth Justice Reform agenda as it relates to custodial youth justice, including supporting the transition to new custodial facilities.
Period of Appointment
Fixed term, Full-time for up to 5 years
Hours per fortnight
73.5 hours per fortnight
Essential Requirements
The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.
• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status - Employment).
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
Conviction checks in the following areas:
crimes of violence
sex related offences
serious drug offences
crimes involving dishonesty
serious traffic offences
Identification check
Disciplinary actions in previous employment check.
Desirable Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications.
A senior executive with a proven record of management in a large private or public sector organisation.
