As a key part of the high-performing Executive team, the Director Organisation Capability will act as a trusted advisor to the recently appointed CEO, setting the strategic direction and effectively manages the operations of the Organisation Capability directorate, including People and Culture, Community Engagement, Procurement, Customer Experience and Change, Technology Enablement, and Digital Transformation.
The incumbent will innovate and manage Council’s enablement functions to support the goals of the organisation, successfully setting priorities and delivering on agreed outcomes and working closely with the Mayor, Councillors, CEO and broader Executive Team to identify issues and opportunities affecting the City of Stonnington and provide strategic advice and direction.
The Director will:
- Lead the organisation with an innovative approach to technology and customer experience, exceeding community demand and expectations
- Develop the customer strategy that connects our people, functions and activities to deliver value to our community
- Set the strategic direction for customer and technology across the City, focusing on building a healthy, prosperous and sustainable community
- Provide insight and advice on how to elevate Council’s culture that will meet the expectations of our diverse workforce
- Support a proactive and agile work plan of safety, procurement, engagement, change, and people and culture that aligns with the Council Plan and delivery of programs of work by the Executive
- Provide strategic support across the departments within the Organisation Capability directorate to ensure the service delivery aligns with the needs of the business and stakeholders and the structure has a clear purpose
- Create a safe and inclusive culture that genuinely invests in our people’s wellbeing, growth and development.
Applicants will require significant experience in diverse Senior Management and Executive roles, a strategic mindset and a high level of competency in financial management, risk management and people management, with a clear and sound understanding of the industrial relations system that underpins successful workplace change. Relevant tertiary qualification in management, business or a related field will be expected and post graduate qualifications in management or business would be highly regarded.
Extensive experience in a senior role with effective leadership skills to empower individuals and build cohesive teams and proven experience in transforming workplace functions and cultures in line with organisational purpose, vision and strategy will both be essential, with demonstrated experience in managing complex and large cross-functional projects and influencing key stakeholders.
