About the Role

In this role you will provide strategic leadership to further establish the College and Flinders University as a national and international centre of excellence in research, education and community engagement in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health with an emphasis on developing future leaders and developing the capability of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce.

Based in one of our campuses, with direct leadership and supervisory responsibilities for all locations of the Poche Centre (currently Adelaide, Alice Springs, and Darwin), you will work in close liaison with other Flinders entities, including other Colleges, the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement, Yunggorendi Student Engagement, and the Rural and Remote Discipline within the College of Medicine and Public Health. More specifically, you will:

Lead the development and implementation of a ‘life-course’ curriculum, that provides appropriate and flexible content delivery of educational packages and new Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander teaching pedagogies.

Make a significant contribution to ethical, high quality and innovative research through high-quality publications, external research grants and contracts

Provide effective supervision and management of the Centre’s staff to drive high performing teams.

Manage the Centre’s budget ensuring that resources are effectively utilised to deliver planned outcomes.

Please note, this position may be appointed at Academic Level D or Academic Level E dependent upon experience.

About You

You will demonstrate strategic, organisational and management skills and an ability to translate strategic and program objectives into operational plans with high performance outcomes. You will have a track record in health research or teaching and demonstrate an understanding of rural/remote contexts and public health approaches, and the importance of knowledge translation for improvements in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing.

Through your high level interpersonal and communication skills, you will establish and foster successful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, government, industry, non-profit, professional bodies, staff, and students.
