Queensland’s hospital system is facing greater demand and pressure than ever before. This is driven by our growing and ageing population, and compounded by pressures on primary, aged and disability care. To help address this, the Health Capital Division (HCD), in partnership with Hospital & Health Services (HHS), is leading the biggest hospital expansion program Queensland has ever seen. The program includes building three new hospitals, expanding 11, upgrading rural and regional health facilities and delivering thousands of new hospital beds in the next five years. In addition, the intent is for this to be the first tranche of a 15-year program of infrastructure investments. Working in HCD, you will forge a new sustainable delivery model and contribute to the delivery of projects that ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders – what could be more rewarding than that?
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Director, Procurement and Contracts, this position will lead procurement delivery and contract teams within the Operations branch and provide practical guidance to delivery areas across HCD.
The Director, Procurement and Contracts leads multiple projects under broad direction from senior and executive leadership.
The successful person
To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:
• Specialist skills and experience in Procurement and/or Contracts delivery or Operations, ideally in a Construction, Capital and/or Health Environment.
• Expertise and succinct advice relating to Procurement and Contracts.
• Effective stakeholder and time management skills.
• Initiative and self-management to achieve and improve work program outcomes.
• Effective leadership skills of various sized teams.
• Comfortability working in a fast paced and evolving work environment.

The Procurement Strategy and Contract Branch for HCD is part of the Operations division. The branch consists of two streams, each headed by a Director. This Director role leads the ‘Delivery' arm, responsible for managing the Procurement and contract processes and advice with the Delivery areas of HCD. The other arm is role is responsible for the ‘Policy' or strategy arm of the Branch and takes leadership over ensuring procurement processes are in line with best practice.
