The role
Reporting to the Executive Director, Office of the Director-General you will be responsible for supporting the Executive Director in the effective operation of Queensland Health's system governance through the management, coordination and provision of confidential, high-quality secretariat and client focused support to the Executive Leadership Team and relevant governing entities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the annual estimates process, with direct responsibility for the activities of the System Support Services team including development of comprehensive briefing packages and other resources to support the Minister, Director-General and other senior executives during the estimates process.
- Provide high level strategic and policy advice on matters relating to executive government, public administration issues and key strategic projects led by the Director, including the annual estimates process and system secretariat functions.
- Implement significant projects and activities as required.
- Lead, identify, research and resolve contentious, time-critical or confidential matters impacting on the Director-General's responsibilities.
You will have demonstrated:
- Experience in providing sensitive, confidential and complex strategic support to Executive Management with large complex public sector organisations.
- Extensive project management experience in successfully delivering high-level strategic projects across a large organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise activities, and lead dynamic teams, in an environment of tight deadlines, competing priorities and high-level demands; working collaboratively with senior executives and other staff to address and resolve emergent or contentious issues.
- Demonstrated experience delivering training programs, including the development of associated resource materials, to assist staff to author high-quality briefing materials and ensure compliance with relevant procedural requirements.
- Experience in synthesising and coordinating advice and information from internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills including the ability to resolve conflict positively.
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal skills, as well as good team building and policy networking skills.
