Purpose of the Role
The role of the General Support Worker is to provide assistance to participants to build their capacity for independence by supporting them to meet their personal care, home care and community engagement needs. The Support Worker role is integral to creating and maintaining a comfortable and positive experience for the participants in a safe and inclusive environment.
Essential Criteria
- Successful completion of Cert III Individual Support – Disability, or related discipline, or enrolled to complete
- Current NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current NSW Driver’s licence and reliable comprehensively insured vehicle
- Demonstrated high level Emotional Intelligence and Empathy skills
- Demonstrated commitment to customer confidentiality
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Comprehension of issues relevant to people with disabilities or vulnerabilities
- Excellent Communication & Interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated punctuality
- High level personal presentation
Preferred Criteria
- Disability and/or Not for Profit experience or knowledge
- Comprehension of the National Disability Standards (NDIS)
- Sensitivity to cultural differences, social complexities and the uniqueness of providing supports in a person’s home while ensuring you maintain health and safety standards
- The ability to effectively and courteously handle complaints and follow set processes to resolve disputes and conflicts
- Flexible to work with changing client needs and a dynamic roster
