About the Role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Disability Support officer to join our team. As a Support officer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing personalised care and support tailored to their unique needs and goals.
Roles & responsibilities
- Determining the needs of the clients and organising, creating, and carrying out support, training, and educational initiatives
- Assisting clients and their family/caregivers with activities of daily living such as self-care, skill development and community participation to achieve goals that are outlined in their plans.
- Keeping track of and reporting on clients' progress.
- Evaluating the resources and needs of the community for housing, work, welfare, health, and other facilities and services
- Assisting families and offering care, education, and assistance to children and individuals with disabilities in government facilities, adult service units, and group housing
- Following business policy and procedure and attending and finishing all required and essential trainings.
- Depending on your position, experience, and training, we might also give you additional responsibilities.
Requirements
- Qualification: At least a Diploma in Community Services.
- Experience: At least one-year of previous experience as an Aged or Disability SUPPORT OFFICER.
- Police Check: A valid police clearance or criminal record check is usually required to ensure suitability for working with vulnerable populations.
- Key Skills and Attributes: Ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately with and understand the needs of all clients and their careers. Other important attributes include flexibility, reliability, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to promoting independence and inclusion for people with disabilities.
