A Disability Support Worker at this level works in a team to provide direct care assistance for clients of the organisation. You should also possess an appropriate qualification (as identified by the employer) at the level of certificate III or above, or may have the relevant experience in the sector that may be required by the employer to undertake duties of supervising the work of others (including work allocation and providing guidance) as part of the delivery of disability services.
To provide clients with high-quality support that addresses individual needs and enhances independence, abilities, community participation and/or quality of life. The position responsibilities include –
- Assist clients with daily activities - this includes cooking / light cleaning, attending appointments, shopping etc.
- Assessing clients' needs and planning, developing and implementing educational, training and support programs
- Interviewing clients and assessing the nature and extent of difficulties
- Monitoring and reporting on the progress of clients
- Referring clients to agencies that can provide additional help
- Assessing client needs and resources for health, welfare, housing, employment, training and other facilities and services
- Determine the needs of people with disabilities, including those needs that may be met through training or work experience
- Plans, develops and liaises with community groups, parents and residential workers in the development of training programs for community orientation, independent living skills, daily living activities, literacy and numeracy, communication and vocational training
You will need to be available to work for a minimum of 4-5 days (Mon-Fri), and at times on a rotating weekend as per the roster provided. The shifts will be typically 7-3pm, 7-5pm or sleepover 3-7am. Availability to work will be confirmed prior to the interview. Kindly do not apply if you can work only on Saturday or Sunday.

- Australian Residency status or valid Australian working rights
- Relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Disability, Individual Support or another relevant field (or willingness to obtain them within an agreed timeframe)
- Relevant experience working in Disability, Human and/or Community Services
- Australian Driver's Licence
- Criminal History Check - current within the last 3 months
- NT Ochre Card - Working With Children Clearance
- NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance
- First Aid Certificate
- Vaccination – COVID-19 vaccination
