About the Role
We are urgently hiring Support Worker positions available for Supported Independent Living and community Access around Darwin and Palmerston regions.
Main Duties / Responsibilities:
Duties will vary according to the participant's support plan but may include:
- Assisting people to perform important daily activities including home support
- Facilitating daily personal hygiene and dressing tasks
- Implementing de-escalation techniques for preventing and defusing behaviors of concern
- Assisting, supporting, and chaperoning outside the home environment which may include transportation of your client.
- Assisting with medication compliance which will include dispensation of prescription medication.
- implementing strategies for preventing and managing difficult behaviors
- Implementing positive approaches, clear, inclusive, and respectful communication.
Eligibility criteria for the roles are:
- Have a wonderful attitude and approach that is client focused.
- Full availability including sleepovers and active nights.
- Manual handling skills including hoist and wheelchair.
- Basic administrative tasks - Report in app daily progress/hand-over notes
- proven experience in providing direct support to complex clients who require a high level of care, behavior management and physical assistance to complete daily activities.
- practical knowledge working with individuals with behaviors of concern as well as experience across both physical and mental disabilities.
- NDIS Orientation Module
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Australian Drivers License
