About Bella
Bella is an 11 year girl who loves her baby dolls, playdough, painting, drawing, watching TV, exploring outside, Mario Karts, dancing to music, watching movies, going to café and park, walking along lake in wheelchair and playing with her service dog. Bella needs support to communicate, build and nurture friendships, daily care needs, learn and further develop some independence skills.

Training
We will provide training in how best to support Bella using alternative communication, using IT to create communication aids, tube feeding, epilepsy and other areas that might benefit your career and Bella.
Duties
- Support Bella to complete daily self-care activities, some daily household chores and complete bedtime and morning routines.
- Support Bella at during therapy sessions, art classes and other activities.
- Support Bella with her service / seizure alert dog and required care and activities.
- Support Bella during seizures including administering rescue medication.
- Support Bella by giving tube feds and meeting other daily needs.
- Use our online portal to complete timesheets, shift reports and collation of data.
Your working hours and availability
We can offer at least 20 hours per week. You must be available to work daytimes shift and to cover any open shifts due to staff illness, annual leave etc. When required ability to complete inactive overnight shifts and availability to travel for specialist appointments and therapy appointments in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Pay
Pay rate (depends on qualification and experience) starting at ($36.00 casual ordinary rate) + allowances + superannuation. See SCHADS pay guide here – Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Industry Award (MA000100) – Fair Work Ombudsman.
Required qualification / certifications
- NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate
- Current Australian Drivers Licence
- Current First Aid and CPR qualification
- Cert III in disability or similar (or willingness to undertake it) or nursing qualification -nursing qualification will be highly regarded
- Australian resident
Required experience and skills
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong administrative skills
- Strong computer skills
- Good at following processes
- Experience working with people with epilepsy
- Experience working with people that are non verbal
Desired personal qualities
- Reliable – an impeccable attendance record
- An active supporter of including people in ordinary community rather than disability specific, separated and segregated settings.
- Physically and mentally fit and healthy to cope with the challenge of the role
- Great at engaging in conversation with people
- Be a cool, calm person who can think on the spot

- Looking for a long term position – at least 2 years
- Able to work in a collaborative and supportive way within a team
