Disability Support Worker

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred support to female clients living with disability in Taree. The assistance you will be required to provide will differ on the support needs of each client based on their individualised support plan. We are currently recruiting for our Lifestyle & Community program.

Shifts fall between Monday to Sunday primarily between 7am to 6pm. Ability to work flexibly is required. No overnights or sleepovers required.

Provide day to day care for residents, including;

• High Intensity Daily Personal Activities (HIDPA)
• Personal care whist ensuring privacy and personal choices are upheld
• Community access and providing transport
• Attend appointments, outings and recreational activities
• Providing active support to residents based on their goals
• Medication administration
• Liaison with families
• Manual handling

Key Responsibilities

• Support clients with daily personal care such as bathing, shaving and toileting
• Provide mobility assistance by lifting, transferring and hoisting clients
• Follow person-centred active support plans and behaviour support plans respectfully
• Help clients reach their goals through meaningful activities of their choice
• Track and document the changing needs of clients through thorough record-keeping
• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families, and your team
• Advocate for client choice and control in a way that is safe and compliant

Skills & Experience

• An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle is required
• Committed to work flexible work hours across the week, including public holidays
• Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
• A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011
• Experience working in Lifestyle and Community supports will be highly regarded

Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
