Disability Support Workers (DSW) – Atherton
At Disability Matters, our Support Workers are our most valued asset and as such our aim is to provide you with as much support as possible. The role offers a range of services to clients including in home and community support, supported independent living and short-term accommodation. Due to continued growth, we currently have positions within each of our program areas. Night duties and sleepover shifts may apply. Our staff are active, strong, positive role models and support clients to live a life of possibilities.
Here’s what you’ll do as a DSW:
- Encourage, support and assist our clients in their day-to-day activities;
- Provide support to individuals with complex needs;
- Make it happen - organise chosen activities;
- Drive modified vehicles to accompany clients to appointments and social events;
- Meet the unique needs of each individual by following their person-centered plans and working towards their bigger life goals;
- Maintain a welcoming home environment.
To be considered you’ll need:
- Strong, concrete professional and personal boundaries;
- A proactive approach to supporting individuals living with disability;
- Access to and ability to efficiently use a smart phone or iPad;
- Available for shift work, eg, sleepovers, day shifts, evening and weekends an advantage;
- A current Queensland driver’s license (manual preferred);
- Current Working with Children Blue Card and Positive Notice Criminal History check or ability to attain both;
- Current First Aid and CPR or ability to obtain;
- Experience supporting people with a disability is preferred, but not essential;
- Two contactable references.
