The Equipped Centre is an NDIS registered, Disability Support services provider and charity that offers person-centred allied health therapy, behaviour support and other support services to people with a disability.
As a Disability Support Worker, you are generally responsible for providing safe, consistent and individualised support for consumers and their families. This support is aimed to facilitate capacity building and enhance quality of life. Due to the individualised nature of the position, the exact nature of your role will change slightly in accordance with the needs of each client, as identified by discussion between the individual, their family and your Team Leader.
We are currently seeking people with a genuine passion for supporting and connecting with others in their community, to support some of our young male clients with accessing the community.
The successful applicant will be patient, reliable and have a strong initiative. Lived or professional experience with disabilities is beneficial, but not essential. All staff are provided with a full induction and training, including buddy shifts where necessary.
Shifts will be primarily in the North Perth Metro area and, depending on the individual, will include duties such as:
- Community access/leisure shifts
- General mentoring for young adults/teenagers
- Support to implement routines/learn ADLs
- Support to attend medical or therapy appointments
- Behavioural support
The following licenses and checks are required:
- Valid 'C' Class Driver's License and a registered, roadworthy vehicle
- Working With Children's Check
- National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
- First Aid Qualifications (HLTAID004 or equivalent)
- COVID 19 Infection Control Certificate
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
