Breakaway is a leading not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of live-in and day programs to people living with a Disability or experiencing disadvantage.
Support Programs are provided for all age groups in a beautiful natural bush land setting on the Central Coast of NSW.
As an NDIS provider and registered charity, Camp Breakaway is committed to continuous quality improvement in the context of a complex regulatory environment.
About the role
We are seeking several suitably qualified and experienced persons with energetic and can-do attitudes to be our Disability Support staff for Breakaway’s 5-day Respite programs. This is offered as a contract position. Applicants must have own ABN and Public Liability Insurance.
Shifts are flexible, you will be able to apply for individual shifts for each program.
- You will care for participants attending our respite program. This may include providing personal care for our participants.
- Provide a level of care to Camp Breakaways standards.
- Engage with our participants, encourage their involvement and participation in our activity program.
- Encourage our participants to interact socially with each other.
- Ensure that participants are delivered the care that they need and are monitored by DSW staff according to ratios specified in their service agreement.
- Document and report all incidents according to Camp Breakaway incident reporting standards.
- Attend briefing and inductions meetings.
- Administration duties as instructed by Program Facilitators.
- Be willing to undergo further training as Breakaway see fit.
We would like to hear from you if you possess the skills and attributes to perform the following tasks:
- Demonstrate a good working knowledge of delivering personal care to people with disabilities.
- Demonstrate a good working knowledge of delivering support to people living with disabilities.
- Have at least 2 years’ experience working in the disability sector.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Restrictive Practise and Infection Control.
- Demonstrate a good working knowledge of safe manual handling techniques.
- Minimum Cert III (or obtaining) for a relative industry qualification, Aged or Disability Care.
- You will be required to have or obtain a NDIS Worker Screening check and a WWCC.
It would be preferable, but not essential, that applicants have the following:
- Experience working in group homes as part of a team.
- Experience in bowel care and or tube feeding.
- Have up to date Flu and COVID Vaccinations.
