Then our Disability Support Worker role might be a perfect match for you! As Disability Support Worker you empower our customers in their independence and on a day-to-day basis enable them to work towards their goals and live a lifestyle of their choice.
This is the perfect time to join Ability WA as we are growing and opening multiple houses in 2024! We have opportunities for permanent part-time positions in either an assigned shift or as relief in your preferred area. As relief you will have the opportunity to experience different houses and work with a variety of customers, while aligning your shifts with your availability.
About the Role
- Provide active support focusing on maximising engagement and participation in the customer’s daily life
- Support customers with their daily living needs - such as cleaning, washing, ironing, meal planning, meal preparation, cooking and personal administration (e.g. shopping, banking, paying bills)
- Support customers with their personal care needs, such as bathing, showering, toileting, dressing and grooming
- Promote community inclusion by taking the customers to appointments and activities, supporting them in connecting with family and friends
- Undertake report writing, shifts notes, incident reports and advocate for the customer
What we are looking for
- Reliable, passionate and committed to meeting customer needs and supporting them to achieve their potential
- Well-rounded communication skills that are adaptable to varied personalities and abilities
- Strong focus on maintaining customer wellbeing and freedom of choice
- A Certificate III or IV in a caring discipline is desirable
All successful candidates will need to have the following to be successful:
- To ensure the best match we ask that you can commit to minimum of 4 shifts per week.
- As most of our shifts are on weekdays, we are looking for availability from Mon-Fri in the following time frames:
- Morning Shifts – 6:00AM – 4:00PM
- Afternoon Shifts - 1:00PM – 11:00PM
- The opportunity and willingness to work in different locations within the Perth Metro Area
- Entitled to full working rights in Australia
In terms of compliances, upon being the successful candidate, we would require the following documents before commencement:
- National Police Clearance no older than 6 months
- Current Driver’s Licence
- NDIS Worker’s Orientation Module
- NDIS Worker Screening check
- Current First Aid Training Certificate (HLTAID011 minimum)
- COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate or Immunisation Statement
